A Never-Ending eBay Product Supply

by on December 18, 2009

So you’ve started to sell on eBay. Great! You have your own eBay account set up. You’ve sold the items that you can around the house. You’ve cleared out the clutter and run out of things to sell. Now what should you do?

The lifeblood of your eBay business is products. If you have no products to sell, you’re not in business. So, how would you like an unlimited supply of products when you’re getting started?

One great way to obtain unlimited products is to become an eBay Trading Assistant. What is a Trading Assistant? This is someone who helps other people get their items sold on eBay. So if you have and Aunt Gertrude who wants her antiques sold on eBay, you would be a Trading Assistant if you helped her sell them. You, as a Trading assistant, take the pictures and do everything related to selling on eBay. In short, you’re going to “assist” her in every way.

Now you might do this for free for your dear Aunt Gertrude, but for neighbors, you may choose to charge a certain commission for your time and energy. Or, you could buy the products from them and then resell them yourself.

You can literally have an unlimited supply of products to sell because chances are everyone has stuff lying around that they want to make a quick buck from. According to eBay, there is over $1000 worth of items around your home that you could sell. And if you help other people sell their stuff, you can have lots of products for many months to come.

Ok, so you do want to be a Trading Assistant. There are two ways to do it. First, you can do it the “official way” by registering on eBay. This will advertise you in eBay’s official “Trading Assistant Directory.” However, to be put in their directory, you need to be aware of a few things. First, you need to have 100 feedback ratings, with 98% of them positive. Also, you need to have sold 10 items in the previous 3 months. Your eBay account must also be in good standings. If you don’t meet eBay’s requirements, however, don’t let that discourage you. You can still be a Trading Assistant “unofficially.” eBay can’t stop you from helping other people sell on eBay. The only real difference between being “offical” or “unofficial” is whether or not you can use eBay’s official Trading Assistant logo and be listed in the directory of Trading Assistants (so others can go onto eBay and find you). But regardless of whether you choose to be official or not, it’s always up to you to find who you can help.

A Trading Assistant needs to promote their services in order to find products to sell. You can do this by getting word of mouth buzz happening about you. Make sure that everybody knows what you do. Talk to your friends and neighbors and ask them if they need anything sold on eBay. The more people know about you, the more successful you’ll become. Post flyers. Put an ad in the paper. Whatever you can do to get people aware of you, the better.

So what’s the conclusion? There’s really no end of products you can sell when you become a Trading Assistant. You’ll be the person everyone turns to when they have a question about eBay.
